Prince William School students donate 10,000 items to festive food bank appeal

Students and staff at Prince William School in Oundle have donated an incredible 10,000 items to families in need this Christmas.

Each form group at the school was invited to create a Christmas hamper design and fill it with goods for Thrapston Foodbank as part of an inter-house competition, with the hampers then judged on their contents and creativity.

Students were also challenged to add an item to their house trolley in order to attend a non-uniform day on Friday as part of the school’s Christmas jumper day.

This was all in aid of Thrapston Foodbank and the appeal resulted in a massive 10,000 items being handed over to the local charity. The school was also treated to a visit from transport company A C Binns’s Polar Express Christmas Truck, which came to Prince William School last week to collect the donations for the food bank.

Carl Baron, Assistant Headteacher for Community and Belonging at Prince William School, said: “Our students continue to astound us with their creativity and generosity, and their support for the Thrapston Foodbank’s festive appeal shows just how much they care about their local community.

“I’m so thankful to the students and their families for getting behind this appeal and demonstrating yet again how kind-hearted and generous our Prince William family truly is.”
