Transport
Update: School transport to PWS from Thrapston from September 2024
As a rural school, transport is a key issue. Coaches and buses service the school directly on a daily basis, with other local public transport being easily accessible from the Oundle Market Place, most notably the X4 which runs through Kettering, Corby, Weldon and Peterborough.
Students living within the designated catchment area of the school and in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 are permitted free transport to school. This is organised through the Local Education Authority, who issue annual bus passes to those students eligible in this way.
Students living within the catchment area and attending the post 16 courses (all Sixth Formers) are required to pay for their transport to school. This is the policy of North Northamptonshire Council. To access transport, students may apply to the Local Authority for a bus pass, which involves the completion of an application form, attaching payment. Passes can be purchased on an annual or on a termly-basis. Students in Year 11 should make their applications immediately after they have decided to continue into Sixth Form at Prince William School. It is strongly recommended that applications be completed before they go on examination leave or before 1st May. Applications should be passed to Prince William School Office, rather than directly to the LEA. We will forward them on your behalf, keeping a record of all applications made. This allows us to be supportive in cases where the issuing of 16+ bus passes has been delayed.

The offer of a place at any particular school does not automatically guarantee the provision of travel assistance. If parents intend to apply for Home to School Travel Assistance for their child, they are advised to read the Council’s Home to School Transport policy before applying.
The ability to allocate seats to Year 12 and 13 students, via LEA passes is dependent on the availability of seats and coach capacities. The priority on these vehicles is to students in Years 7 to 11. The LEA has no requirement to provide coaches for Post 16 students.
Parents of students living outside the catchment area must be responsible for the transport of their child to Prince William School. We take no responsibility for this for either vehicles or payment. They can apply for a concessionary bus pass which is only available if there is room on the buses after all designated catchment area students have been allocated a seat.

TRANSPORT FOR AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND TRIPS
We have traditionally been able to offer a range of activities to students and have valued the support of parents in transporting their children. These are often co-ordinated by the students themselves. Individual event organisers are often available to offer support in this as the need arises.
