EMAT Olympic Day 2023

We are thrilled to announce that our EMAT Olympic Day is back for 2023!

Our Olympic Day events are a unique opportunity for our pupils across our family of schools to compete in a range of sporting activities and learn more about the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect. With the support of GB Olympians, our pupils are able to learn about aiming high and working hard to achieve your goals through sport.

Our events begin with a torch relay, featuring the EMAT Olympic torch, which sees all pupils at each of our seven schools walking or running a mile, together clocking up a total of 5,000 miles - a mile per pupil across the East Midlands Academy Trust. The torch moves from school to school throughout the week beginning June 5th and this year we hope to raise money from the torch relay for a local sporting charity.

The following week, on Wednesday 14th June, we are holding our Ability Games, a fun sporting competition for our pupils with additional needs, namely communication and interaction difficulties. This event is fully inclusive, enabling pupils to take part in appropriate sporting activities as part of our Olympic Day programme.

The main event - our Olympic Day - takes place at this year at Corby Athletics Stadium on Wednesday 21st June, offering our children and young people the chance to compete at a full-sized athletics track and field. We will be broadcasting live from the stadium, enabling parents and pupils back at school to watch the events and cheer on their child or classmates, and we will be joined by Sky Sports presenter Jamie Weir who will be our host for the event.
