Sixth Form Life

In a progressively competitive market for university places and paid employment it is increasingly important that our students develop a broad range of attributes and skills that demonstrate the breadth of their abilities, interests and achievements.

This is not only important where applications are concerned but with a view to ensuring that our students are able to achieve and maintain a positive balance between their studies and their extra-curricular pursuits. It is our intention that all students in the Sixth Form at Prince William School will enhance their opportunity to succeed by participating in some form of enrichment or leadership opportunity. This might include:

  • Joining the student SENATE
  • Securing a work experience or volunteering placement Representing the school in sporting activities or other competitive activities
  • Contributions to dance, musical or dramatic pursuits
  • Supporting younger students and peers through a mentoring programme
  • Becoming a subject ambassador
  • Organising charity events for local, national and international causes
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award

All students will participate in a regular Extended Studies session during which time they will participate in assemblies and seminars delivered by internal and external speakers with a focus on such topics as finance, health, careers and philanthropic works. Moreover, these sessions will present students with the occasion to develop and lead on initiatives that will not only benefit them individually, but the local and wider communities.

The Sixth Form SENATE is a group of Year 12 and 13 students volunteers , who lead work with the Sixth Form Leadership Team to ensure that student views are widely represented in all matters. A Sixth Form Senator should, by way of setting a positive example for others, be industrious and responsible in their approach to Sixth Form life and perpetuate, at all times, the highest possible standards.
